oh, dear boy who once told me to
look at the moon,
don't forget to
look at the stars, too.

don't forget,
when the sky is dark with your dread of the unknown,
to marvel at the starlight
that dances upon your skin.

don't forget,
when the sky is thundering with the boom of your voice,
to savor the power
that sparks in your eyes.

don't forget,
when the sky is breaking with the sobs in your chest,
to dance to the raindrops
that pummel your heart.

oh, dear boy who once told me to
look at the moon,
don't forget to
look at yourself, too.
