the science of life

March 1, 2019

i hate biology.

i hate being aware
of the reason i squish
and the reason i squirm.

i hate being aware
of the little things
that squiggle around
inside my lungs,
that traipse along
inside my veins,
that stumble and tumble,
that live and die,
that subsist and destroy
inside of me.

but do not think i am
not aware of the miracles
that are
my bones,
my body,
my brain.

no, because-
i sometimes wonder if my
brain is smarter than i
am, which is a
terribly funny thought,
is it not?

my brain does wonders.
it keeps my heart beating,
it keeps my lungs heaving,
it keeps my feet leaving.
all this and more,
without a single conscious thought.

what a strange concept-
that life keeps me living,
whether i want to
or not.

exactly why i wrote this, Kenny. hormones and theories and molecules make my head hurt, but they're what keep us going.

also, i'm extremely happy to hear that, because i love Pinterest and it definitely inspires me a lot :)

Hey, so I loved this and it’s so tiring when you’re learning about hormones and neurons, but like, when you actually think about it, it’s so incredible, so yeah I relate.

Also, your poems look like aesthetic Pinterest moodboards. Love it:)

Oh gosh I get this at the end of every biology lesson I feel a lil bit faint but it’s worth it because it’s so fascinating !!
