Black Night #T2S

February 20, 2019

The sirens are screeching, making me deaf
Then, there's a loud boom, and a body falls down, dead.
His face, black as coal, stares up at the sky
And people start crying, 'cause they never said goodbye
Micheal Brown, Sean Bell, Eric Garner, Alton Sterling.
They were treated like animals, and not human beings
And for what? A little bit of crack cocaine?
Now, that is truly insane
Why can't we all love each other?
Why can't we act like sisters and brothers?
Because some are black as night?
Because some as snow white?
Because of that we fight like dogs and cats?
No, it's way more violent than that
They don't fight us; They kill us.
Everywhere: the park, the street, the bus
But I guess that's how society will always be
I can just hope and pray that the next victim won't be me
And that the next time the sirens make me deaf
I won't be the one falling down dead
