Twelve Years

PROMPT: Strike

7
We have twelve years left.

There are two ways we can think about this.

Twelve years left to live in a world where we are not choked by the sky, twelve years left where we can go on exactly as we have been, twelve years left to watch more animals die.

Or, twelve years left to patch up the earth, twelve years left to stop suffocating her with dwindling fuels, twelve years left to start letting her grow again.

The white rhinos went extinct a few days ago, don’t let it be us in twelve years.

What a stunning and effective way to address your concerns regarding global warming/climate change. Your piece shows the urgency in this matter really well <3

I've already lost hope in humanity making the proper changes to reverse climate change, but that doesn't mean I've given up trying. This is a really awesome wake-up call. Great job!

Okay, I still don’t know how to reply directly to comments Christy, but basically we have twelve years left until global warming/climate change is irreversible.

Sorry, I'm confused. What do we have twelve years left until?
