That Sort of Person

Full Details

He’s the kind of kid who’d make fun of your lunch.
Mary is the sort of person who gets cast as a tree with two lines and becomes the most interesting part of the play.
He’s the kind of guy who borrows your car and brings it back empty with an I.O.U. taped to the steering wheel.

Sometimes one line of description can reveal worlds about a character. Are you working on a short story or novel? Want to get to know your characters better? What sort of person is he or she?

Read these stellar examples from WtW's Hanan Adi... and then write 3-5 of your own "sort of person" lines about one of your main characters.

(examples at top borrowed from the wonderful book of craft exercises: What If)
