A Trillion Trees

Full Details

Did you know that the oldest living tree known to humans is over 9,500 years old? Or that trees can send chemical signals to birds to come peck off a swarm of insects eating their leaves? Or that planting a trillion trees around the world “could remove two-thirds of all the emissions that have been pumped into the atmosphere by human activities”?
“Trees are sanctuaries,” the German poet Hermann Hesse once wrote. “Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth.”
This prompt is simple, dear writers. Write a poem inspired by the idea of a trillion trees.
