PROMPT: Water Body

The ocean is wild and roaring
and free,
Salt and seaweed
and sand.
We take its water
and filter and clean
every
drop,
we cover it with chemicals,
burn it until it scalds,
and we say
now it is natural,
now it is pure.

The ocean is wild and roaring,
but not always free.
Pulled by the moon
in monthly tides,
a puppet on
invisible
strings.
It bears fading coral reef sunsets,
withering algae,
and fish, and crustaceans,
using tides...

Submerged in the Water

PROMPT: Water Body

The water, the sea, the ocean.
Oh how it moves around me, oh how it moves me.
The water moves backwards and forwards, side to side.
It is therapeutic and calming.
Oh how I would love to stay, stay here and be one with the water.
To be one with the water, not be anchored down anywhere just to be free to go anywhere.
To go with the ocean, to follow the current.
To be submerged in the water not...

Waves

PROMPT: Water Body

Bashing against the unforgivable sand
washing away the castles that were just constructed
bringing in new shells and beach glass
little crabs get tangles in the seaweed
washed ashore, they are scrambling to get back to the ocean
you help them out
casting away the empty bottles of liquid pain relievers
washing away my salty tears with your own
thank you to the moon for bringing the waves
but thank you to the ocean for being there so he could...

let the ocean

PROMPT: Water Body

Follow the darkness, follow the shimmer of relfected light
That carries dreamers and sailors into the night
Fall with the sinners and the shipwrecks
Dragged into the depths
Swim with the pooling silver beneath the moon
Coat your skin in the waves metallic, melodious, tune
Let the ocean course through your veins
Seep through your eyes, releasing pain
Let the ocean fill your lungs
Spoken summers sit sweetly on tongues
Let the ocean crash and divide
The head and heart...

Emotions of the Oceans

PROMPT: Water Body

The ocean is a breathing body
Ocean wavers up and down
The sea has emotions
Storms reflect the anger
While sun and pleasant waves reflect its joy

A Sonnet

PROMPT: Water Body

You should know that my mind is an ocean
It is deep, it is a beautiful void
It is full of many things unspoken
Slowly being polluted and destroyed
It is what it is because of the past
Was broken then fixed then broken again
We move so slow but the universe fast
As we're hoping that there won't be an end
In a world where society is wrong
And people don't know what they are doing
We are still...

let it consume my life until

the words pile up around me

spill into my lungs

welcome home, they say

i do wonder, though

what happens when i come up for air

The Tide Will Always Turn

PROMPT: Water Body

Some nights are quiet
When the air is soft and brushes her
with gentle fingers, cool and liquid
on skin painted silver
in the moonlight

On nights like these
the Moon is so alluring
It promises light, its blinding beauty
irresistible in the deep dark nothing
of the universe

She follows it like always
Entranced by the heavenly glow
She tiptoes towards the tide-line,
slipping, silent, through
ridges in the sand

She is full of life and shimmering,
the whole...

The Call of the Ocean

PROMPT: Water Body

The Call of the Ocean

The waves crash onto the shore.
I watch as they take the shells and sand from under my feet.
Where did they go?
I walk along the shoreline.
The waves call to me, begging for me to come closer.
I resist their call, and keep walking.
Why didn’t I answer their call?
Under the sea, a girl watches.
Her hair flows in the current, and her eyes gaze up.
Shells fall to where she sits. ...

Hidden Plains

PROMPT: Water Body

Crawling across baked plains,
the wallowing whispers creep
closing over the wistful peaks,
this dark blood like flood reigns.

Windswept grains weep,
the sunlight a bright caress
midnight ink spilled in reverse
nothing escapes the deep.

Languorous waves lap at the shore
no granule or boulder, free
hidden by the dark plains
the life under. Soars,
no need to try and flee.
This dark paradise us humans can not see.

To the Ocean

PROMPT: Water Body

To the ocean—
You’ve carried me out so deep;
cradled me so gently in your
ancient arms.

You’ve shown me miracles:
lightness, and tiny fish, and
shells that fit perfectly
into the palm of my hand.

You’ve guided me to islands
where the streets are lined
with fairy houses,
and the hills hold the shape
of the fog.

You’ve welcomed me,
enveloped me,
when I was young, and older, and old,
and dirty, and clean,
and aching, and full,...

Drowned Inspiration

PROMPT: Water Body

The sea is such a pretty sight to behold.

The waves move rapidly
Closer and closer to me
They come to near and I start to slip
Falling into those waves I'm sinking like a ship

Well the water's salty
And my hair is full of seaweed
My calls for help are quickly drowned

I scream as my head goes under.

How?

PROMPT: Water Body

I scoffed as I read the book. How could ocean waves remind you of sand? Sand was dead, water was alive. Stupid. I sighed and looked out at the window at the ocean. The ocean tossed in a way no sand could. Sand wasn't the ocean, and the ocean couldn't be sand, they were best friends and neightbors, but completely different.

Tempest
I hear the rumble
A roiling sea at my feet
Sky dances, electric

Nereids
Daughters of the sea
Grace and beauty come alive
In blue and green hues

Heaven
Waves break on the shore
Solitude and auld lang syne
Colours transcendent

Ocean reflections

PROMPT: Water Body

A slight breeze tickles the whitest sand,
Sending flurries of dust around our feet,
Blue water rushing up, hand in hand
With crashes of foam from the endless sea.
The stolen ships lie in the deep,
Lives that were claimed from long gone days,
Weary sailors fast asleep,
Eyes closed beneath the swelling waves.
The cliffs along the silky beach,
Hiding dark and secret caves,
Seagulls scream from high above,
And dive towards the crested waves.
Feet sinking into the...

An Endless Ocean

PROMPT: Water Body

I was the endless ocean,
and you were the fisherman.
My emotions rose into a storm,
and you became afraid of me.

But even when I calmed,
you stayed away.
Because you knew it would happen again
someday.

So now I sit here,
through each drowning sun,
and wait for you, still endless.

PROMPT: Water Body

(Inspired by BTS's Sea)

Floating in the sea.
That's all I have known.

Floating in the sea
Of my mother's womb
Before birth.

Floating in the sea
Of chlorinated pool water
As a kid.

Floating in the sea
Of the desert of life
As a teen.

I am still floating in the sea.

When I am able to gain strength
And walk on water,
The sea becomes a desert.
And so I walk endlessly
Amidst this deep blue desert
To...

Mermaid

PROMPT: Water Body

A cool, splashing sensation attacks my face,
Covered in water head to toe,
I take a breath,
And flap my tail,
My eyes flutter open to the spectacle of my world,

Bubbles emitting from the alien creatures of this world,
They call them fish,
Colorful jets of light pass by me,
as they swirl and twirl around me.
Soon they disappear hiding into the tiniest of holes

A large grey figure appears out of the distance,
the colorful creatures huge...

Swelling,
An over ripe fruit
With juices at the ready -
I float
With pores wide open,
Flooding
With salted sea water

It is simply blue
All around me;
A cave of the troposphere
That I have come to rest in;
King David hiding from the dangers of Saul -
his land,
the land I no longer want to tread.

The blue protects me
As I no longer need to carry myself -
The weight of myself,
I become the...

PROMPT: Water Body

Why are you empty? Why are you shallow?
You are distant and cold to me.

Why must your beauty only be on your surface?
You are truly empty like the waves.

Memoir of the Sea

PROMPT: Water Body

First, you lay down
And paddle
Slowly first
More and more
Let it take over you
Then
At once there's a thunderous push
Within seconds you make your move
Then, you raise your neck
Plant your palms
And stand
Let the wind play with your hair
As you rule over the water
Let yourself surf

"You can't do it," They said
"Not in a million years, you're too little and you'll fall you see."
But the more someone tells you...
