An Extension of Myself

PROMPT: Why I Write

I punctured my skin with ballpoint pins, ink seeking solace within my blood, until the two intertwined and became one. When I bled, letters fell out and spilled across the expanse of the world, tints of red shifting in the microscopic letters of my eternal being. I lost myself in the reds and blacks of letters and words. And when I returned, I was an inkling of a writer.

The stars swam with such delight, staring down...

Why do I write?

I write to explain away the pain of everyday life.
To make sense of a wicked world -- which I call home.
To pierce the mortal heart by peaking into the immortal soul.
To teach of historical tragedies and just victories.
To see the world for what it truly is, and to blow away the smoke and mirrors.
To feel something when numbness lies at my doorstep banging to get it.

PROMPT: Why I Write

I write to imagine a new world.
I write to create something from nothing.
I write to give someone else a place to get lost in.
I write to detach myself from realty and lose myself in fiction.
I write as thanks to the authors whose books I read. Thanks for letting me get lost in the pages of your work.

PROMPT: Why I Write

Maybe, I write not to clear my head, but to simply take things out of it and make something new.
Maybe, I write not because I can control everything but because each character stems from something in me, and I get to release them and find out how they fly.
Maybe, I write because for the moments in which I am writing I don't think so little about everything.
Maybe, I write because I can show it to the world,...

Why I write?

I write to make others happy, firstly.
I write to discover myself,
and to uncover a part of me to everyone,
To finally see myself, not in a mirror! But to peek into my own soul....
I discover this world when I write.
I hide too many emotions. That I can't really say, so I convert them into words.
I mould the letters by my hands to make something unique!
They say I'm mysterious. Because I trap...

PROMPT: Why I Write

Do you wonder why anyone writes?
Why are there authors?
Why do you learn about writing in schools?
The answer is simple, but also very complicated.

Then let us first start with why you read.
Why do you read books?
Why to you need to be literate?
Think of the reason why teachers make you read for homework.

Well, you read because you want knowledge.
You read for information.
You read for a hint of imagination thought of by others. ...

my tears roll down evaporating mixing with the ashes
wax candle has melted now and I am wiping the fog on my specs, coldness hugging me

translating the language, writing is a cup of coffee efflorescence bouncing on my tongues, tinkling my stomach
it's a medicine curing my slow death. expression, feeling, writing is breathing!

PROMPT: Why I Write

I write to take my feelings
And share them with the world
To spread my ideas
And create beautiful things

I write for love
And for hate
For forgiveness
And the pureness of it all

I write because I need to
It fills me up
Overfills my bucket
Without I wouldn't be me

I love what writing makes me
The goodness it brings out
And the happiness that pours from my words
The positive feelings that beat down the darkness

I write to give life to my ideas.

I write for those who cannot;
the characters in my head who are waiting
for their stories to be told.

I write to take a snapshot
of pivotal moments that a picture
could never truly capture.

I write so that my memories

I write to live a curious life.

the tiny voice whose inconquerable murmur
swirls within the ice-cold waves of my brain

I write to scream in pain,
With my one assurance, my one plea, my one word
the last leaf that falls each autumn
and the first rose of spring's cherry blossoms

Why I Write

PROMPT: Why I Write

I write to realise a world inside my head, where nothing is bound by the shackles of reality. A world where time waits for some and anything that comes to mind is a possibility. I pull thoughts from the deepest corners of my mind and put them onto paper, whether it's dark or intense or down right crazy. I find expressing myself through speech to be impossible, but in text I am free to do so as I please. Sometimes...

Why did I write?

Because I was god.

I wrote to make worlds.
Worlds that show themselves in glimpses and fragments,
Worlds that promise to be something incredible,
Worlds that seem to make perfect sense,
Worlds that never make it to the page.

And then I stopped writing, because I wasn't.

Why did I write?

Because I was human.

Why do I write?
In all honesty, I'm not entirely sure.

From the time I could hold a book
I've loved to read
To explore new worlds
Meet new people
Go on crazy, wild
Fantastical adventures that I would otherwise never have.

And then one day
A thought occurred to me:

Why don't I create my own world?
Why don't I make my own story?

So I did.

It was decent writing

PROMPT: Why I Write

Why do I write? Well.... I'm not too sure.

Maybe it's because when I was in 5th grade, my teacher told me that I could become an author and I never truly let go of his words. Sure, they were probably simple words to please a 10 year old, but it made my heart beam with happiness. He looked at my story and smiled, the first smile my work brought. I wanted to do that again.

But I have been...

why do i write?
i write selfishly. i write to create a more favorable world for myself, one that i can revel in fully for those few moments when my pen is to the page. i write to dive into dusty libraries, tempestuous oceans, hushed forests, candlelit halls. i write to escape, to temporarily halt the proceedings of normal life and enter somebody else's. i write to manipulate words, to formulate new realities, to question the world and the society...

On Writing

PROMPT: Why I Write

I write to bare my soul without getting hurt.
I write to shape worlds where peace is possible.
I write so that those reading won't feel alone.

Writers have changed the world.
They have burned to share their messages,
to say what no one else dares to.

Creating characters that feel more real than myself,
that do and say things I dare not, is how I understand who I am.

Maybe I spend nights,
bleary-eyed and filled with enough coffee...
