PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

He sat there looking out the window,
up,
breathing in.
out,exhaling,
looking out,
and picturing it in his mind ,
which was playing  a silent symphony of memories,
built on  bank where he grew up on
A smile grew on his face,
His eye twitched, comfort cradled him
 A feeling of Joy.

Decade

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

A decade since you have gone
But I still hear your voice,
as if it was yesterday.
Ten summers have passed
So have ten winters,
But I doubt,if I will
survive for ten more seasons,
I won't quit for just another day
Though I am void of reasons.

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

there's this sort of pain that
kind of just started to bubble
within me.
it festered and spread and still
it fed.
i know nothing exists beyond
my own limits,
but for once i ask myself;
when was it that this feeling began?

The Blank Page

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

White. Boundless whiteness. The world
has never seemed so clear. Crusted corners
soak up dust, seethe and roil at your touch.
Click. Click. The pen’s ink sloshes within,
crimson blood turned charcoal, flows
from your veins into the ballpoint—wait.
Pause. Reflect, before you press your mark
onto the perfect space. Listen close, and eventually
you’ll hear it whisper, yes.

Teenagers Feelings

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

Thirteen to Nineteen is that time for pain
When you feel lost and can not regain
The times you have cried
The times you have tried
Tried of everything happening
Tired of family and friends backstabbing
My body is shaming ,My grades downgrading
Teenage is hard and i have come so far
Maybe when i am older i will look back and laugh

Strawberry

Seeds like freckles
On a well loved face.
Prone to laughter,
ever sweet.
In morning dew
her skin like rubies,
she who blushes
in the rays of Sun.

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

It grasps the threads of life, though
Its body is sleek, shiny copper

Miniscule, reflected mountains
Are its fountain of strength

Though it's no longer than the sigh of relief
That can only be heard

When its presence is discovered
Upon my lowly dresser

Hug me

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

a hug here, and handshake there
a smile on your face as you greet friends new and old
and you wonder to yourself how lucky you are
to be able to touch again, to love for real once more
because the one thing you took for granted
the life you seemed to live for the sake of living
that had gone, and come back again
and you missed it, truly missed it
and now you won't waste another moment

The Everlasting Fire - Writing prompt

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

┍━━━━ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ━━━━┑

A fire burns

Ash on my tongue

The fire grows brighter

A crow flies overhead

Endless black eyes search my very soul

The fire grows hotter

Soot-covered hands gasp at my ashen legs

Kicking and screaming my body is pulled into the flames

The once everlasting fire now lays dormant for its next victim

summer peach

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

round and fresh and delightful like the hot afternoon sun
sweet and juicy and rich like all the summers past spent
rosy and plush and full of endless memories together
squeezed and dripping with the sweat and tears of a lifetime
pink and orange and bright like it was never going to run out
until it is sliced into half and left bleeding like the brimming sunset
empty of all its fullness for it will never be shared again

Ceiling Fan

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

From a rusted head of metal
Looming from a badminton court’s
Ceiling, neck creaking,
I glimpse a diligent baker:
The weathered blades unravel winds,
Flatter us like cream upon cake
Its airs make sweat feel sweet
Toiling as we revel
in the icings of breeze

Letting Go

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

I know you were just the first in a series of unfortunate events that you didn't cause.

But all my pain, leads back to you

I will always find a way to blame you.

For you brought stillness and ease, a peaceful bliss

Now, you bring darkness and the peaceful bliss that once came with you, has turned into fear.

Fear that I will never be enough, fear that you'll try to come back

I miss the peaceful bliss, but...

my mother's hands

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

loopy letters form from the pen in her haggard hand,
skin cracked, red and rough
from taking care.
hands that have cradled, wept, danced
sang, played, measured, calculated,
now close around mine.
lines trace up and down her fingers
mapping out her timeline, her being, her everything
like rings on a tree, infused with unending wisdom.

my hands are my hands are my hands are my hands

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

my knuckles crack
smooth and rough sounds reverberate
the skin around my nail beds peel
dry and cracked, they've endured my own form of torture
my nails are cut short
not by choice, perhaps by destiny
i trace the lines down the palms of my hand
short strokes meet long strokes
they paint a story of unfulfilled potential

her eyes

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

''The ocean.''
''No.''
''The sky?''
''Probably not.''
''Have they always been that blue?'' he asked.
''As long as I can remember, but then, I can't exactly always see them,'' she said.

Now he starts to appreciate his own, for allowing him to see her.
To see hers looking into his,
Shining brightly, as if the whole universe smiled back with her every time he came into the room.

26 Letters

PROMPT: Extraordinary in the Ordinary

We see letters every day,
We read them, and savour them, and listen to them play,
It seems like there are endless letters in the world,
But there are only twenty-six,
Only twenty-six figures, made up of lines,
That transport our minds,
Everything you’ve ever read, or written this language,
Is just a different combination of twenty-six strokes that can make such damage,
So, next time you sit down to write, think about how these letters create such a light.
