Reading from the top or bottom.
recently published a piece we liked so much, we turned it into a prompt! Read “I am” for yourselves—first from the top, then from the bottom, as instructed—and then write your own poem that can be read from either end.
I am a child born and bred underneath the night sky.
I lie within the earth’s gentle embrace.
The bubbling brook beaming under the nurturing light.
Sister to the night and daughter to Mother Nature,
I am life.
Hidden in the heart of creation,
no one can find me,
Nowhere but everywhere.
the whisper of the wind,
I am the sound of falling snow.
The first breath of air.
I am here.
(now read it backwards)
